Modern backyard offices are trending, and we know why. Working from home is the new norm, but sitting in bed with a laptop is killing your back. The kitchen island office is derailing your focus. So we invite you to simply lift your eyes and gaze out your window. What do you see?
We see potential.
That’s exactly how we started working with Xavier. His job shifted everyone to remote work so he no longer had a business office to go to. Day after day he struggled to get comfortable and his productivity was slipping. He knew he had to shift his focus beyond just getting by.
That’s where Knuk came in. We met with Xavier virtually and walked through the design options for his backyard ADU. We took into account his needs, available space, design style and budget. What resulted was something he couldn’t have dreamt of on his own, but knew deep down that he desperately needed: his own office.
When you step onto the platform deck, the mirage of your reflection in the thick, floor-to-ceiling panes of glass blends with the interior of the office. Furnished with a swank desk and chair, there’s a sitting area for the occasional visitor to join a meeting or to brainstorm. The only non-glass wall also hides a personal restroom.
The office is wired for sound and Wi-Fi, while outlets are installed in all the right places. Those incredible double glazed windows keep the weather and noise out, and the interior temperature stable year round. There’s enough daylight that even on the rainiest of Seattle days, there’s hardly a need to turn on the LED overheads.
Xavier now works with peace each and every day. He can return to leaving the house for work, crossing the yard, and not returning to the main house until his work day is finished unless he’s in the mood for a home-cooked lunch. No more balancing laundry with logging calls or loading the dishwasher with designing a sales pitch. Together we mastered a new normal that met his every work-day need.
